Online Baccarat

What is Baccarat?

Baccarat is a card game that is played between you and the banker. It is played with a single deck of 52 cards. Your goal is to predict whose hand, consisting of either two or three cards, is closer to the total value of 9.  These rules of Baccarat apply to Microgaming's online casino Baccarat game.

Rules of How to Play Baccarat

When playing baccarat, the banker deals two cards to himself face down and two cards to the player. The goal is to assemble a hand with a point value as close to nine as possible. If the player has a hand less than nine, he may stand or request one more card. This card will be dealt face up. The player must stand on a six or seven and must draw another card on a four or less. It's considered a perfect hand or "natural" if your cards total nine with only the first two cards. Eight is the second best hand, and along with nine, it makes for two "natural" hands. The only hand that beats a natural eight is a natural nine. You can bet in three ways - you can bet that the banker's hand is closer to nine, that the player's hand is closer, or that they are tied. So, how do you get to the value of nine, or any other value for that matter? The value of nine is calculated as follows. Aces count as a value of one, picture cards have a value of 10, and the other cards all count as their face value (an 8 counts as 8 points, a 9 counts as 9 points, etc). If your hand adds up to double digits, then the first figure is ignored and the hand only counts as the second figure. For instance, if you have an eight of clubs and a seven of hearts, then your hand totals 15 (8 plus 7). You ignore the "1" and your total for this hand is "5". Playing Baccarat online is extremely easy and quite fun. First, you select the chip selector increase or decrease buttons to select the coin size you want to use to bet. Click the up or down arrow buttons to select how much you are willing to bet. Next, select the hand upon which you want to bet; click the banker button to bet on the banker's hand, the player button to bet on the player's hand, or the tie button to bet on the possibility that the two will tie. Then sit back and enjoy!

How to Win at Baccarat

You win at Baccarat by betting on the hand that ends up with a value closer to nine than the other hands. If the hand that you bet on wins then you are paid double your original bet. If you bet on a tie, then the pay out is eight times the amount that you bet! If you bet on the banker's hand and win, then the house charges a 5% commission. If you did not bet on a tie, but a tie occurs, then your original bet is returned to you. Finally, if you bet on a hand, and the hand loses, then you lose your bet.

The following rules apply when playing Baccarat:
  • If you bet on the Banker's hand, and the hand wins, you pay a 5% commission to the House.
  • King's, Queen's, Jack's and Ten's have no point value.
  • If the hands tie, and you did not bet on a Tie, your bet is returned to you.
