Tips To Win At Baccarat

James Bond is cool. He plays Baccarat with steely eyes and ice in his veins. With the fate of the world on the deal, he never flinches. And he doesn't even have a tip sheet!

Of course, most of us are not James Bond, and a tip sheet really helps at Baccarat. There is also nothing wrong with having a few pointers, even when you print them out and bring them with you wherever you play Baccarat. No one will make fun of you. But, if you are a first time player and extra sensitive, try playing internet Baccarat online. You can make the following tip sheet bold and in a crazy big font and print it out. No one can see you! Pin it up next to your computer if you want.

So following are a few tips that any baccarat player worth his salt and pepper should know:

Tips for Reading your Baccarat Hand

  • Nine is the key. A hand that adds up to nine is a winner.
  • A natural nine is one that is composed of two cards, freshly dealt. If you are dealt a natural nine, the next thing you will be dealt is… some money!
  • Tens equal nothing. Zip. Nadda. Doughnut holes. We pretend that they are like that annoying person who shows up uninvited to the cocktail party. We politely ignore him and don't laugh at his jokes. If you are dealt all three tens, you have three nothings.
  • The face cards, the Kings, Queens, and Jacks, the Royalty, the Board of Directors - however you want to refer to the men and women who have their faces on the cards - they are all worth ten. Which is another way of saying they are worth nothing. There may be a Queen of England who is the sovereign over a vast empire, but in this game, there is a Queen of Clubs who rules over a vast empire of air. Ignore the face cards, they don't make a difference.
  • The tens digit is dropped. Now this sounds confusing, but it's really simple. If the hand adds up to thirteen, you really have three. If your hand adds up to fifteen, you have five. If your hand adds up to eighteen, you have eight. See the pattern?
  • Aces are…. Low. That's right. Forget everything you know from poker or blackjack. Aces in Baccarat equal one. O.K., if you insist, they can equal eleven…. Which really equals one (see above rule).

Baccarat Game Rule and Baccarat Odds Tip

  • You must draw another card on four or less. You have an Ace and a two? Draw. (Even if this was not required, why wouldn't you want a card? If you stand on a three, you are going to lose. This is not Blackjack and the dealer will never go bust. In fact, draw a blackjack in Baccarat? (Face card plus Ace). Congratulations, you know have a hand that equals… one.
  • The odds of getting a single particular card go down slightly if one is already showing. There are four sixes in a standard deck of fifty-two cards. You have a four in fifty-two or one in thirteen chance of getting one. If someone is already showing one though, your odds of getting another have just gone down. If there are already two sixes showing, your odds of getting another one are roughly half of what they were at the beginning of the game. Don't count on it!

So these are just a few tips that should make the game more interesting. You can either memorize them or print out the tip sheet. And you can certainly share them with your friends. Try Microgaming's internet Baccarat at First Web Casino.

    Just have fun out there!
