Internet Craps Rules and Terms

Craps is an exciting, fast-paced casino game played with a pair of dice that are tossed onto a large table. The objective in a game of craps is to bet on the outcome of the roll of the dice. Now you can play Internet craps on your computer and enjoy the same incredible craps excitement without leaving your home. Here are the rules of how to play Internet craps.

How to Play Internet Craps

Craps is played with two dice. The person who rolls the dice is called the Shooter. In a land-based casino, the role of Shooter rotates among the players at the craps table. In an Internet casino, the Shooter is always you.

To begin playing Internet craps, you first choose your coin size with the Plus or Minus button, and then place your bet by clicking on the appropriate area of the virtual craps table that corresponds to the type of bet you want to make. As you can see from a look at the craps table, there are many different bets that the Internet craps player can make. Each type of craps bet has its own little area of the craps table.

When you are ready, you shoot the virtual craps dice by clicking the Roll button. The first roll in any craps game is called the Come-Out Roll.

The Basic Internet Craps Bet

The most common craps bet is call the Pass Line bet. In fact, many people enjoy playing Internet craps for years without feeling a need to learn anything other than the Pass Line bet. For those people, playing craps means playing the Pass Line bet.

When you make a Pass Line bet, there are three things that can happen on the Come Out roll:

  • You roll a 7 or an 11. This is called a Natural, and it means you won. Congratulations!

  • You roll a 2, 3, or 12. This is called Craps, and it means you lost. Dry your eyes and try again.

  • You roll a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. The number you rolled is called your Point. Now keep rolling the dice. You win if you roll your Point again before a 7, and you lose if you roll a 7 before rolling your Point.

    Learning More Craps Bets

There is, of course, more to Internet craps than the Pass Line bet. That is why the virtual craps table is so crowded with all of those little boxes and words and numbers. These are a few of the other bets you can make when you play craps on the Internet:

Don't Pass Bet is the opposite of the Pass Line bet. 7 and 11 lose on the Come Out roll, 2 or 3 win, and 12 is a tie. If a Point is set, you win if you roll a 7 before the Point.

Making a Don't Pass bet is considered bad manners in a land-based craps casino, but it is perfectly acceptable in an Internet casino.

Come Bet is like a Pass Line bet, except it is made on a non-Come Out roll. A natural win, craps loses, and anything else becomes your Point.

Don't Come bet is like a Don't Pass bet, except it is made on a non-Come Out Roll.

The Odds Bets. After you have established the Point, you may "Take the Odds" if you have made a Pass Line or Come bet, or "Lay the Odds" if you have made Don't Pass or Don't Come bet. This means betting additional chips on the Point appearing before a 7, or a 7 before the Point, respectively.

You will not find a place for the Odds bets marked on the craps table. To take the odds or lay the odds, just click next to your original Pass Line, Don't Pass, Come, or Don't Come bet.

A Place Bet allows you to select a number to be the Point. With a Place to Win bet, you win if your chosen Point is rolled before a7; with a Place to Lose bet, you win if you roll a 7 before the Point.

Hard Ways Bets. It's hard to roll a double in Internet craps. That's why a double-4 is called a "Hard 8," while a 2-and-6 or a 3-and-5 are called "Easy 8." A bet on Hard Way 4, Hard Way 6, Hard Way 8, or Hard Way 10 means a bet that you will roll the number the hard way — as a double — before you roll it the easy way or roll a 7.

    The Proposition Bets

With all of the craps bets discussed above, you don't win or lose the bet until either a 7 or the Point is rolled. That can mean shooting the dice over and over until one of those two things happen. But there are also craps bets that are resolved — win or lose — on the next roll of the dice. These are called Proposition Bets.

Any Craps is a bet that the next roll of the dice will be 2, 3, or 12.

Crap 2 is a bet that the next roll will be a 2.

Crap 3 is a bet that the next roll will be a 3.

Crap 12 is a bet that the next roll will be a 12.

Seven is a bet that the next roll will be a 7.

Eleven is a bet that the next roll will be an 11.

    C&E (Craps & Eleven) is a bet that the next roll will be a 2, 3, 11, or 12.

    Field Bet is a bet that the next roll will be a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12.

    Winning at Internet Craps

As we have seen, there are many different types of bets in Internet craps. Each one has its own odds of winning and its own payout rates.

Winning Pass Line, Don't Pass, Come, and Don't Come bets all pay out even money. A winning Field bet also pays even money, except that if you win with a 2 it pays double and if you win with a 12 it pays triple.

Crap 2 and Crap 12 both pay 30-to-1. That is the highest payout of any Internet craps bets.

The good news for the Internet craps player is that all the payout rates are printed clearly on the virtual craps table. And when you win at Internet craps, the computer automatically figures your winnings and adds them to your casino account. So when you play craps in the Internet casino, you don't have to memorize anything or perform any mathematical calculations. You can just let 'em roll and enjoy your Internet Craps game.
