The Casino Clock was the Subject of Much Dissension The casino clock was a family heirloom and one that had been left to me by my Great Grandmother. It was a subject of much dissension within the family because my Aunts and Uncles felt and verbalized their feelings frequently that the casino clock should have been left to them. Not only was the casino clock a beautiful piece of work, it was also extremely valuable and depicted various scenes from the early century where the master woodcarver Casino Rodriguez had shown life in the market place around Buckingham Palace. The casino clock showed fruit sellers and flower sellers with their wares beseeching passers-by to purchase from them. The casino clock showed scenes of foxhunting with the gentry riding with the hounds.
Casino Rodriguez's other Clock wasin the Vatican
Casino Rodriguez had only made two such clocks and the other clock was held in the Vatican as it depicted scenes from the crucifixion. Based on various estimates made by my family, and helped along by the odd appraiser, it was deemed to be worth in excess of £1,000,000. The angst caused by the casino clock being left to me had split our family in two, with my parents being ostracized by their siblings due to the fact that they felt my parents had exerted undue pressure and influenced their Grandmother to leave the casino clock to me. I would never sell the casino clock, it was worth much more than money to me and maybe that is why Great Grandmother Joy left it to me.
